Our most popular pet grooming course, mainly because it’s over a long enough period to allow the student not only to learn but also have enough time to be able to develop the confidence needed to pass exams and to be able to run a business after training.

The combined City and Guilds Levels 2 and 3 delivers the training and underpinning knowledge to offer a professional service to your clients. Both qualifications cover a comprehensive range of skills, from safe handling and animal care to carrying out a range of salon trims using clipping, scissoring and hand-stripping techniques.

This course is for 55 days, which includes 5 days for the practical and theory assessments for the Levels 2 and 3 qualifications. This is our most popular course and is the most suitable if you wish to offer a commercial grooming service.

It is a compulsory requirement of City and Guilds that Level 2 must be achieved before a candidate can be enrolled for the Level 3.

City and Guilds Level 2 - Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants - 7863-02

The dog grooming Level 2 covers the skills and subject areas needed for a candidate to be able to perform the tasks of a qualified Level 2 dog grooming assistant.

You will cover health and safety, handling, health checks, ear, eye and nail care.

In addition, you will learn safe coat preparation, bathing, and drying, before moving on to basic clipping skills and how to trim feet and tails. We provide the best City and Guilds dog grooming Level 2 course and help you level up your dog grooming expertise.

City and Guilds Level 3 - Diploma in Dog Grooming - 7863-03

The city and guilds Level 3 dog grooming covers the more advanced grooming and styling skills of advanced clipping, scissoring skills.

This course allows you to learn, practice and become competent in the skills required for a commercial dog groomer, including clipping, scissor use and techniques, body, feet, tail and head shapes and styles, hand-stripping, and a whole lot more.

You can expect all your training days to be almost entirely practical and hands-on. In addition to this, there is a comprehensive range of theory study, which is done on an Open Learning basis. This means that you will do this at home, with access to support by telephone, email and through our social media page, although we ask that you exercise consideration when using the telephone option. We will also hold theory workshops in the school, and of course, you can talk through any queries you have about the theory at the end of every training day. Once the Open Learning theory studies are complete, you will have completed a substantial amount of hours, in both practical and the development of underpinning knowledge.

You will also receive the Abbfabb Certificate in Professional Dog Grooming. This option will increase your course to 55 days to include the assessments for Levels 2 and 3.
